Moon and Jupiter August 11th

My final session of the night was a photo shoot of the Moon and Jupiter. The Moon was waning crescent and showed really well. Copernicus was near the terminator and Kepler, Sinus Iridium and the southern craters all showed well. Here's the highlights:

I could only capture Jupiter's moons and not the planet, a problem I have often had. Even turning the brightness right down made no difference. I checked with an eyepiece and found that the equatorial cloud belts were barely visible, possibly because of the planet's proximity to the horizon.
